VOTING SAFELY IN MIDDLETOWN ON NOVEMBER 3
Absentee Ballots
With the risk of COVID-19 expected through the rest of this year, it is crucial that we vote early and by mail, not only to ensure our safety, but also to allow town clerks enough time to properly process your ballots.
STEP 1: CHECK FOR APPLICATION
If you are a registered voter, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill should have already mailed your application for an absentee ballot between September 8 and 11.
Please visit this page to download the application if it has not arrived in your mail by early October.
STEP 2: REQUEST YOUR BALLOT
Fill out and mail your application as soon as possible!
Be sure to check off the box labelled "COVID-19" under "Section II. Statement of Applicant"!

Note that per Connecticut law, absentee ballots
cannot be distributed before October 2, which leaves a short amount of time
for your town clerk and the Secretary of the State to process your ballot!

With resources stretched because of the pandemic,
it is imperative that you submit all forms as soon as possible!
STEP 3: FILL OUT YOUR BALLOT
You will be voting for four candidates:
1. President of the United States
2. U.S. Member of Congress (for the 1st or 3rd District)
3. State Senator (for the 9th or 13th State Senate district)
4. State Representative
(for the 33rd district of Middletown)
STEP 4: RETURN YOUR BALLOT
You have 2 options for returning your ballot:
1. Mail it back to your Town Clerk. With the postal service slowdown, please do not delay.
2. Drop it off physically at the secure Absentee Ballot drop box installed outside of your City Hall.
(Secretary of the State recommends this as the safest and most secure option.)
If you choose to vote in person on Election Day,
please visit the Secretary of the State's voting information page.

Even if you have already received an absentee ballot,
you can still choose to vote in person, should you change your mind.
Rip up your absentee ballot to render it void, and bring it to your polling location,
so poll workers can verify that you have not already voted.
